Practical Application of Psi
I
see practical application of psi (DMILS - PK). Perhaps in the
treatment of PTSD which currently has made great progress in treatment
via rapid eye movement and brain wave entrainment not fully understood.
Juxtaposition this against the helper-helpee experiments done in
conjunction with the BIAL Foundation: Two Cognitive DMILS studies in
Bali (Edge, et al, 2004), and I think you have great applied
possibilites. Going back to Warcollier (1948), often the passage as
something as complex as languange might be beyond the current psi skill
level, or might be more of a product of the conscious when psi is more a
product of the unconscious, helping someone "process" a psychological
issue which may very well be rooted in the way the conscious and
unconscious relate to each other. Backing this up, Ed Tick, a
psychologist notes that in cultures with a more collectiveness (less
individualistic) world view have less issues with PTSD. Possibly
because of the connection presumed by the non-local conscious?
I did just get to finish Dr. Watts paper for his week on the value parapsychology adds and found myself making distinctions between the skeptic who doesn't beleive in psi and the skeptic who question the methodology of parapsychological research. One modality of thought can be helpful, keeping research on the straight and narrow, while the other may hamper progress. I can't help but note in our material, that the parapsychological field seems to be "stuck" in this argument to the point of possibly being neurotic (ironic given that it's a part of psycholpgy) Watt points out the issues of researchers hoping around and lack of pre-quantifying research. In contrast to the science of physics where issues disagreement between particle and wave theories were resolved in 30 years, parapsychology seems locked in the same arguments for the last 125+ years. This seems like a maturity issue of the community than an issue of methodology or statistical analysis. That happens. Look at U.S. foreign policy. Having been a project manager, I completely understand how the influence the struggle can have on any endeavor, I have to ask, how did the skeptics seemingly get the stronger position in that the burden of proof is completely on the pro-psi researcher with seemingly little accountablitity for pure bigotry? Is this a factor of who is in the RAE? Again, I have to believe that adopting research toward an applicable end could resolve a lot of these issues including creating "project plans" for research that would pre-quantify and force methodological metrics prior to the expenditure of actual experimentation REFERENCES Edge, H., Suryani, L.K., Tiliopoulos, N., & Morris, R.
